C/R: Fake Fire Officer Beaten To Stupor For Stealing Gallons Of Palm Oil, Palm Kennel At Abeadze Towoboase

Man believed to be in his late 20’s and in Fire Service uniform has been caught and beaten to pulp for stealing palm oil and palm kennel at Abeadze Towoboase in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

Facts gathered from the incident uncovers, the man at the dawn of Wednesday, March 15, 2023 got arrested with over ten gallons of palm oil and palm kennel he stole from a palm oil mill at the aforementioned location.

Report by Sompa News reporter Eric Annan discloses, the man after been nabbed failed to show his identification card as fire officer and where he has been stationed to work.

According to the peeved residents said, were spying on the culprit while on his stealing act and quickly went hold of him afterwards where he got the beating of his life as he pleaded for forgiveness.

The angry residents then dragged the alleged thief who’s unknown within the area to the Mankessim Divisional Police Station at Jedu for further probings into the matter.

C/R:GPRTU, Drivers Unions have Warned Mfantseman MCE Not to use Ansah Lorry Station for Makert Center

A bus station or a bus interchange is a structure where city buses or intercity buses stop to pick up and drop off passengers.

The Mankessim Ghana Private Road Transport Union ( GPRTU ) in cooperation with Drivers Unions has warned the Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive ( MCE ) Hon. Ike Lord Enu not to use the Ansah Lorry Station for trading.

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the driver’s unions in cooperation with the GPRTU branch embarked on a massive demolition exercise to demolish over 30 – 40 container stores at Ansah lorry station at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

The exercise was to demolish the stores been put up in the station by the MCE which will not only affect economic activities but also create problems for the drivers.

According to the drivers, the spaces of which have been guaranteed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ike Lord Enu to put up the containers will decongest the erea to facilitate their work.

They said the lorry station was built for the Drivers and not traders and because Makessim is a central business district the only solution to congestion in the area is to relocate the drivers while the government is also putting up a lockable store for Makert traders.

According to them, Mankessim is now traffic-free due to the proper arrangements and well-organized by the Mankessim MTTD commander, ACP Beatrice Sintim Koree who in her authority relocated the drivers into the Ansah Lorry Station to decongest the area.

“The store owners will not permit us to park our cars in front of their stores even the ones been built by the contractor in the station and it worried, ” they added.

 

Speaking in an interview, the leadership of the Unions, ( Co-operative Union, GPRTU, and all other unions also narrated that a meeting has been held with the Municipal Chief Executive but to no avail, standing tall that he(MCE) is capable and has the authority to do even more of that.

They said the MCE in his capacity and authority wants to do whatever he wants in the municipality, especially Mankessim but the leadership of all the Unions in Mankessim will not allow him on that.

According to them the Drivers always complain about the state of putting up of the container stores in the station it was not the reason the station was built but rather parking their cars in other to load.

They said this would hinder their work so if urgent, action is not taken the traders will take over the car park and the only result of that is to go back to the roadside to ease traffic flow.

2024 Elections: If anybody starts a fight, we shall complete it – Minority Chief Whip

  • Minority Chief Whip, Governs Kwame Agbodza has said that voters in the Volta Region will protect their votes in the 2024 elections.

He said in doing so, they will meet whoever forments trouble boot for boot.

“Volta Region is ready to protect the ballot, Volta Region will not be a crime scene. You can change the security chiefs, make yourself the IGP or army commander, if you step foot in the Volta Region and attempt to rig the elections by hurting anyone, I will not tell you what to do, but write your will down before you come here. …We shall not start any fight because of election, but if anybody starts a fight, we shall complete it,”  Mr Agbodza said during a meeting with party faithful in the region.

The meeting forms part of the ‘Building Ghana tour’ embarked on by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama to the Volta Region.

After a two-week break for the Christmas and New Year festivities, Mr Mahama is currently in the party’s  stronghold-  The Volta Region.

The former President, who is seeking a second and last presidential bid will be engaging stakeholders  in the region on how effectively he should serve the people of Ghana in the midst of the prevailing economic crisis.
